Flowers of Rastanura

Image
Friends are flowers in the garden of life CAPTURING I  had the chance to capture some beautiful flowers when we went swimming in ARAMCO Rastanura last 2011 Eid Al Adha. Yep, this photos has been sleeping for a long time now in my external hard disk :) It's so rare for me to have subjects such as these because of the place where I am at. I'm not saying that this place is not picturesque but only because our life in this country revolves in "going to work" and "going home"; we sometimes eat out; but most of the time we make some groceries during salary or have some time in the park, but only when the weather is fine.  The whole family can also drive around during Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. But I cannot just go out anytime I want and drive around the city just to point and shoot all the beautiful things I see; women are not allowed to drive here (sigh, as if I know how to drive :b).  On our way I don't know the names of these flowers...

Farmer's Haircut Session...(Without Crying)..

Image
*Farmer will be my son's name in the web* T his should have been posted earlier but for some reasons I wasn't able to do so. Anyway, last week, Farmer had his haircut... and yes without crying, running and wrestling. Farmer's last haircut sessions was really not a good experience. The first time we went to a barber shop which was in SM City Taytay, he ran and cried, we were like Tom and Jerry chasing each other. I thought of an alternative by having a home service but it was still the same old story. I have to let him sit on my lap and wrap my arms around him and lock his arms. He is wrestling with me trying to escape so strong that he kicked the lady hair cutter. And that is the reason why he had a long hair for a long time. But last week was a different story. Hubby and I brought our kids in Dahran Mall because my sister-in-law told us that there is a good Kabayan (fellow Filipino) hair cutter in one of the Kids Salon there. We first let Farmer walk by himself and run any...

Mommy, I Want To See God..

Image
O ne night while I was doing some stuff in my computer and my kids are watching "Praise Baby", my daughter started to show off by singing along with what she is watching  using her toy "echo" microphone. The song that was playing was "God is Love". I smiled back at her to acknowledged how I appreciate her singing and motivating her by nodding my head. Then she suddenly told me, " Mommy I want to see God” I looked at her and smiled but really didn't mind what she said as I glance back with what I am doing in my computer. Then she insist on it again saying in a tone of eagerness of wanting to see God. " Mommy I want to see God!, pleeeaaaasssee?" And since I wasn't giving too much attention on what she is telling me, she took my Iphone and said, " okay I will find God. In my peripheral I saw her typed the word "God" in you tube search box, and as she saw what come out from her search, she ...

A Not So Happy Birthday…

Image
Remembering Papa Today is my father’s birthday. He was actually born on the mountains because my grandparents had to hide from the Japanese because it was World War II at that time. SInce life was hard, he was fed thru a goat’s milk. I don’t know if it was a joke but according to him, that was the reason why he isn’t tall as some fathers are. I hardly remember celebrating this day with Papa. I guess this is really typical for an OFW child like me whose fathers have to go abroad just for the need to survive. I was only five years old when Papa decided to leave and work here in the Middle East. I don’t have that much fond memories celebrating this day when I was younger because Papa would only come for vacation once in every four years and that would not be on his birthday. But I would not forget to send him Birthday Cards and I think that was the most memorable thing that I can remember doing during that time. Where computers is not a fad yet and snail mails and not e-mails is the ...

Remembering Papa

Image
L ast March of this year, my family and I had the chance to visit my father’s resting place. This was in “The Immortal Gardens” in my hometown San Jose City, Philippines. We went there late in the afternoon, where the sun is nearly setting which makes the place looked serene and gloomy. But I noticed that the grass and soil was all dried up. As we approached Papa’s place, I thought I would not feel any sad emotions anymore. But as I saw his written name on that piece of emblem my tears started to flow. In my mind, still the thought of unbelief that my father’s remains is lying here. As Mama light a candle, my son blowed it as if he was blowing a birthday candle. My husband sat on the ground and said; “H ello Pa, eto ang makulit mong apo si Elijah at si Mikay tignan mo malalaki na sila! I know this is just a place where we lay Papa’s loving memory, but it was as if he is really with us, having fellowship, looking and listening. And from here I again felt the hu...

Mama’s Birthday

Image
It’s my mother’s birthday today and she is now 61 years old. But there is something sad every time this day comes. Because two days after her birthday it will be my father’s death anniversary. Who would have thought that 4 years ago, August 19,2006 , it’ll be my Mama’s last birthday together with Papa. And it will also be her last birthday with us here in the Middle East. I had kept a few of our pictures in my external hard disk during her last birthday with us. It was just a small gathering with few family friends and brethren in Christ. Everything seems to be going on so smoothly during that night, my elder sister was also with us who was in visit visa that time. And if I remember it right, that night we had a bible study first and then had a snack after it with the all time favourite Pancit Palabok from Al Bahar. We even had a an additional family member that time in the person of my brother’s wife and they were expecting a bay boy, though my brother was not around because he was st...

“Remembering Papa”

Image
I t’s been three years since my Papa past away, and this date was the day he met his unfortunate fate. They call it death anniversary, but why do we have to count the years when it’s about death? Why do we have to remember it when it’s about a sad story or incident? Why do I have to remember Papa when the thought of Him just makes me cry and miss him a lot. And why do I have to write about it if at this point tears is starting to flow from my eyes? I still remember this day. I was having my lunch together with my colleagues when suddenly my phone rang and the name that was registering was “Papa”. I answered it “hello Pa” but it was my older sister Meng, who answered back. I ask her where is Papa, why are you using his phone? She said that papa left his phone and she started telling me that Papa met an accident and that his car was totally wrecked!! I started to panic and cry. I felt a shiver all over my body and my knees just fall down the floor. My colleagues calm me down and star...

A Mother's Day Card

Image
Proverbs 22:6- Train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is old he will not depart from it. I t was Mother’s Day and greetings are overwhelming. But nothing would make my heart melt but to receive a card from my own child. This is the first card that my daughter Mikay gave to me, it was done during our Friday service in the children ministry with her teacher Jaz.  It wasn’t a card that is perfectly made with all those fancy colours and decors but it was just a card made from a pink bond paper with paper star cut outs with letters   I,   heart shape   and   U   to say the word   I Love You .  Inside it, was just the words “Happy Mothers Day” written with ordinary crayons. All in all, it was typically done by a four year old child. And for a mother like me it is special and I love it.   My daughter Mikay is very playful and loves to watch cartoons, her favourite is Winnie the Pooh, Sponge Bob Square pants, Tom and Jerry, M...
