A Not So Happy Birthday…

Remembering Papa Today is my father’s birthday. He was actually born on the mountains because my grandparents had to hide from the Japanese because it was World War II at that time. SInce life was hard, he was fed thru a goat’s milk. I don’t know if it was a joke but according to him, that was the reason why he isn’t tall as some fathers are. I hardly remember celebrating this day with Papa. I guess this is really typical for an OFW child like me whose fathers have to go abroad just for the need to survive. I was only five years old when Papa decided to leave and work here in the Middle East. I don’t have that much fond memories celebrating this day when I was younger because Papa would only come for vacation once in every four years and that would not be on his birthday. But I would not forget to send him Birthday Cards and I think that was the most memorable thing that I can remember doing during that time. Mama’s Birthday

It’s my mother’s birthday today and she is now 61 years old. But there is something sad every time this day comes. Because two days after her birthday it will be my father’s death anniversary. Who would have thought that 4 years ago, August 19,2006 , it’ll be my Mama’s last birthday together with Papa. And it will also be her last birthday with us here in the Middle East. I had kept a few of our pictures in my external hard disk during her last birthday with us. It was just a small gathering with few family friends and brethren in Christ. Everything seems to be going on so smoothly during that night, my elder sister was also with us who was in visit visa that time. And if I remember it right, that night we had a bible study first and then had a snack after it with the all time favourite Pancit Palabok from Al Bahar.
